Ralph Washington to Leave Central Council
Central Mayor Pro-Tem Ralph Washington will be ending his service as No. 2-ranked person in Central city government after nine years as mayor pro-tem and city councilman. Washington is currently the highest ranking black Republican in municipal government in Louisiana.
Washington lost his bid for reelection to the Council May 3 after a bout with diabetes kept him from campaigning.
Central Mayor-elect Jr. Shelton hailed Washington for his outstanding service to the people of Central.
