Ralph Washington to Leave Central Council

Central Mayor Pro-Tem Ralph Washington will be ending his service as No. 2-ranked person in Central city government after nine years as mayor pro-tem and city councilman.  Washington is currently the highest ranking black Republican in municipal government in Louisiana.

Washington lost his bid for reelection to the Council May 3 after a bout with diabetes kept him from campaigning.

Central Mayor-elect Jr. Shelton hailed Washington for his outstanding service to the people of Central.
