Republican Party Supports St. George Vote

The Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish has thrown its support behind the petition drive to put the incorporation of the proposed City of St. George on the election ballot this fall. Republican chairman Woody Jenkins said, “Our position is simple.  Under state law, the people of St. George have the legal right to decide whether they want to incorporate.  But the Mayor-President and the Metro Council have said they plan to file suit to block the people having a vote.  We object to that undemocratic tactic.  Stop interfering in the process!  Let the people vote!”
