57th Annual Greenwell Springs Rodeo

The 57th Annual Greenwell Springs Youth Riders Rodeo was held May 1 and 2 at the BREC Shady Park arena in Greenwell Springs.

Spectators enjoyed calf roping, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding events under clear skies. Children in the audience were encouraged to participate in fun events such as “needle in the haystack,” “buddy barrel,” “mutton busting,” and “calf scramble.” A bicycle was presented to the winner of the scramble.

Greenwell Springs Youth Riders was organized in 1958 as a mounted Boy Scout group. Youth riders are taught discipline, respect and the importance of teamwork. To find out more information about the Greenwell Springs Youth Riders, visit their website: www.gsyr.webs.com
