Three Republicans Seek to Succeed Ryan Heck

Three Republican candidates are running for the Metro Council in District 11, a seat currently held by Councilman Ryan Heck.  The district includes parts of the Mid City area and extends southeast to include parts of what would be the City of St. George. The three candidates discussed their philosophy during the Ronald Reagan Newsmaker Luncheon.
Bonnie Budyach is a single mother of three children, all of whom attend public schools. She works for Albermarle to help the company comply with U.S. Customs regulations.  She describes herself as fiscally conservative and socially liberal and identifies with the libertarian philosophy.
David Vincent studied accounting before going into business for himself.  He founded a martial arts studio in 1993. He chairs a national organization for martial arts studio owners.  He takes a conservative stand across the board.  His guides are discipline, responsibility, integrity, courtesy, working with others, and an open mind.
Matt Watson has served as aide to Ryan Heck and has been responsible for constituent service, which has allowed him to get to know and help people across the district. He takes a conservative stand across the board. He helped pass ordinances to slow traffic in neighborhoods and restrict solicitors. He says government should live within its means.
The Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish has endorsed both Vincent and Watson for the seat.
