Rotary Club of Southeast Baton Rouge Changes Name to Rotary Club of St. George
Members of the Rotary Club of Southeast Baton Rouge have voted to change the club’s name to Rotary Club of St. George. The members meeting was led by Rotary President Darrell Ourso on May 15, 2024.
Founding member Nathan Rust, said: “I am excited that the vision we cast for our Rotary Club will align with the new City of St. George, and will continue to be a group that brings together servant leaders to serve our community. The seed we planted in 2020 has taken root and will continue to produce fruit for years to come!”
The incorporation of St. George was originally approved by voters during a public vote on October 12, 2019.
The case dragged on for years but finally on April 26, 2024 the Louisiana Supreme Court announced its decision to uphold vote of the people and the incorporation of the City of St. George.
Rotary Club members voted to change the club’s name to reflect the area of the newly-incorporated city.
President Darrell Ourso said, “The name change for our Rotary Club represents the vibrant community in the southeastern area of East Baton Rouge Parish. It now mirrors the name of our new city as we continue to serve our community!”
