History. Originally established as Episcopal High School in 1965, spearheaded by Rev. Ralph Webster and founding families, aiming to introduce an Episcopal K–12 education in Baton Rouge. Launched with fewer than 25 seventh graders on the original St. James Church campus downtown 1968. Moved to current 50‑acre Woodland Ridge campus in 1968. Spring 1970: Graduated its first senior class. It transitioned from a high school to a PreK–12 institution in 1990’s and early 2000’s. Launched a performing arts center to support robust arts programming. Completed expansive Academic Commons, offering 17 new classrooms. Added a 22,000 sq ft Field House for athletics. Opened the QUEST Center in Foster Hall, enhancing STEM spaces continues to foster spiritual, artistic, athletic, and academic excellence, honoring its Christian Episcopal values. Founded to deliver personalized, high-quality Episcopal education focusing on the whole child — academically, vocally, morally, physically, and artistically. Spiritual life is deeply interwoven—daily worship, Morning Meetings, Eucharists, and a commitment to social justice and inclusivity. Operates independently of diocesan funding, sustained through tuition and philanthropic support.

Tuition. From $12,824 for Pre-K3  to $25,565 for 12th grade. A one-time commitment fee of $756 is due upon signing the contract; a $100 early-payment discount may apply. Families may choose from a one-payment, two-payment, or ten-payment plan, with applicable interest for multi-payment options. 

Financial Aid. Episcopal uses the FAST tuition-assistance program, with applications opening in early October. The deadline for Middle & Upper School was January 7, 2025. Around 35 percent of students receive aid, averaging about $8,700 per student.

Athletics. Competes in LHSAA District 8‑2A as the Knights. Upper School (Varsity & JV): Football, baseball, basketball (boys & girls), soccer (boys & girls), softball, golf, tennis, swimming, track and field, cross-country, volleyball, wrestling, powerlifting, esports, cheer, and dance. Middle School Teams: Age-appropriate versions of the above sports.

Athletic Philosophy. Vertical alignment across levels, focus on character, courage, discipline, and academic-athletic balance

Facilities. 23,000 sq ft Field House with weight/cardio areas, indoor turf, and training. Main gym seats 700+ (Foster Court). Memorial Stadium with seating for 2,000 and track, Phillips Gym, practice fields, pool, and more.

Extracurricular. Fine Arts: Robust programs in visual arts, theatre, music, and dance. Visual and Media Arts: Painting, drawing, ceramics, film studies, and more. Performing Arts: Theatre, musical theatre, dance, choir, band. Advanced Programs: AP Music Theory, Dance Masters Seminar, Theatre Masters Seminar, plus private lessons in piano, voice, violin, harp. Lower School Clubs: Lego, cooking, chess, choir, and more—designed to build social/emotional skills like collaboration, patience, resilience. Performing Arts Academy: Music and choir enrichment for Lower School students. Homework Helpers: Academic study skills group. Student Publications: Knightly News (school newspaper). Leadership: Student Council, honor code, electives and clubs in Upper School, LAUNCH, ESTAAR, Thesis Program.

Enrollment Process

1. Schedule a Tour or Shadow Day. Contact the Admission Office at (225) 755‑2684 or admissions@episcopalbr.org. Campus visits are encouraged before applying, though not required.

2. Complete the Online Application. Submit the online application via Episcopal’s portal. Pay the $125 application fee (waived for alumni children).

3. Gather Required Documents and Screening. PreK–5. Birth certificate and a photo of the child. Teacher evaluation form. On-campus screening test (K and below). Transcript (Grades 1–5) Grades 6–8. Everything for PreK–5, plus: Student Statement (online) English and Math teacher evaluations. Transcript ISEE test required (after August 7). Grades 9–12 Birth certificate, photo, student statement, mission response essay, English and Math teacher evaluations, Transcript ISEE test required, and on-campus interview. 

4. Submit and Complete Admission. Checklist Once the application is submitted, an interactive Admission Checklist (with required documents and steps) is accessible.

5. Adhere to the Admissions Calendar. Application opens August 5 for the following school year. Tuition assistance (FAST) opens September 1. Lower School early deadline: November 1. 

6. Sign Enrollment Contract and Pay Fee. Returning families must submit the enrollment contract and $756 commitment fee by January 10 to secure placement.

  7. Set Up Tuition Payments. Choose from one of three payment plans: One payment (due 7/1) Two payments (7/1 & 12/1) Ten monthly payments (6/1–3/1) Multi-payment plans incur interest.
