Pro-Family Leader Says Israel Will Not Allow a Nuclear Iran

Just back from Israel, where he met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Rep. Tony Perkins said leaders he met with in Israel are distrustful of President Obama and question his commitment to the security of Israel.
Perkins spoke at the Ronald Reagan Newsmaker Luncheon in Baton Rouge.
Perkins organized a Congressional delegation to the Middle East, which included Congressmen Steve Scalise of Louisiana, chairman of the Republican Study Committee; Jim Jordan, former chairman, James Langford, Michele Bachmann, Ted Poe, and others.
“Israel greatly appreciates the aid it receives from the United States,” Perkins said, “but they are not going to leave it to us to take care of their security needs.”
“Iran is not just a problem of Israel,” he said, “it’s also a problem of the United States.  Obama and Kerry do not understand the Mullahs’ obsession with obtaining nuclear weapons.”
“Netanyahu is not going to telegraph his intentions.  Israel is a cool actor.  Netanyahu may be the Winston Churchill of our day.”
Perkins, who is now president of the Family Research Council in Washington, resides in Central and commutes to Washington on Monday evenings and returns on Thursday nights.  He is often seen on Fox News and other networks, and he has a daily nationwide radio talk show.
A former Marine, Perkins said he is very concerned that the Obama administration is assaulting the religious liberty of American servicemen and women.  “It’s far different from when I served in the Marine Corps under President Ronald Reagan.”
Perkins’ group has formed a website called www.militaryfreedom.org to monitor violations of religious liberty of military personnel by the Obama administration.
Perkins, who served in the state house for eight years, has been urged to run for Congress, and he said he is considering it.
