Cassidy Surging as Dec. 6 Runoff Nears

Louisiana Republicans have come together with unprecedented unity since the Nov 4 primary to rally around Congressman Bill Cassidy, the Republican candidate against incumbent Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu in the Dec. 6 runoff.

Landrieu narrowly led Cassidy, 42 percent to 41 percent in the primary, but Col. Rob Maness, a conservative Republican, received 200,000 votes. Support from Maness is essential to a Cassidy victory, and Maness gave his support to the frontrunner three days after the primary.

Cassidy hosted a Unity Rally in Baton Rouge on Monday, Nov. 10.

Speakers included Gov. Bobby Jindal, Sen. David Vitter, Maness, Sen. Rand Paul, Sen. Elbert Guillory, and former Cong. Jeff Landry.

Maness fired up the pro-Cassidy crowd and showed the charisma and command of issues that propelled him onto the statewide scene.

Sen. Paul, a potential Presidential candidate, was well received.

Landrieu, who was elected 18 years ago in an election marked by vote fraud, again faces a controversy over possible vote fraud.  This week a video surfaced showing Opelousas Mayor Don Cravins Sr., urging voters at a Landrieu rally to vote twice.
