Chamber EBR to Launch WSGX, 95.1 FM

The Baton Rouge area will have a new radio station this summer.  The Mighty WSGX 95.1 FM will sign on the air on Friday, July 3, according to Cecil Cavanaugh, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of East Baton Rouge, which owns the license for the new station.

WSGX will cover Baton Rouge and the proposed City of St. George.  Cavanaugh said the format of the station will be local and national news, music from the 1950’s, 60’s, and 70’s, and conservative talk.

The not-for-profit station will be run according to the same rules as WLPB-TV and WRKF radio.  It will not sell commercials, but it will sell sponsorships.  “We are excited to have Baton Rouge radio legend Bob Furlow on the team to guide

and direct us,” Cavanaugh said.
