Company in Israel Developed Program That Better Serves St. George Residents
State Treasurer Dr. John Fleming recently hosted a trade delegation from Israel led by Gov. Israel Ganz, governor of the Binyamin Region of Israel. Ganz, along with Eliana Passentin and Ruth Lieberman, came to Louisiana to establish ties and promote trade between Israel and Louisiana.
During their four-day stay in Louisiana, the delegation paid a visit to St. George, where they were hosted by St. George Fire Chief Gerard Tarleton and Asst. Chief Dustin Yates, who also serves as Mayor of the new City of St. George.
Gov. Ganz was eager to meet with leaders of the fire department because a company from his region of Israel is playing a major role in improving the quality of service provided by the St. George Fire Department. Unknown to most in St. George, the technology allows the St. George Fire Department to know the layout of each house in the city and specifically where electrical lines come into each building. This helps firefighters be better prepared when they reach the scene of an emergency.
During their visit to Louisiana, which was organized by St. George Leader editor Woody Jenkins, the group met a wide range of leaders from government and business, setting the stage for future trade missions and trade expos between Israel and Louisiana.
