Watson’s ‘Drive-Thru’ Petition Drive

Watson’s ‘Drive-Thru’ Petition Drive

Supporters of the incorporation of Watson, a community of 25,000 people in northwest Livingston Parish, said yesterday they plan a unique twist on their efforts to get enough signatures on petitions to hold a referendum on incorporating as a city.

Registered voters will get to participate in a “drive-through” petition drive.  From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, voters who want to sign the petition can pull up to Live Oak High School and sign the petition in the comfort of their cars.

Bob Watts said the “drive-through” plan is unique.  Up until now, organizers have secured signatures at shopping centers and by going door to door.  Organizers must get signatures of 25 percent of the registered voters in the proposed city.
