Paul Dietzel to Seek Seat Held by Dr. Bill Cassidy

BATON ROUGE — Paul Dietzel II, local businessman and grandson of the former LSU football coach of the same name, announced his candidacy Thursday for Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District. Congressman Bill Cassidy is leaving the seat to run for U.S. Senate against Sen. Mary Landrieu.
Dietzel is founder and CEO at Anedot, a Baton Rouge-based software company. He cites hurdles placed on business by government along with the dysfunction and spending in Washington, D.C., as contributing factors in his decision to run for Congress.
“Higher taxes and mandates from Washington are forcing companies to cut worker hours and preventing them from hiring new workers,” Dietzel said. “Our country needs new leadership and new ideas, and I’m running for Congress to bring that fresh perspective we need.”
Dietzel will also focus on supporting education solutions so our children get the education they deserve, and so Louisiana’s employers have a well-trained workforce.
Dietzel is a conservative, pro-life Republican and a lifetime NRA member who will defend our Second Amendment rights, he said.
Dietzel received his undergraduate degree from LSU. He earned his Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Policy from Pepperdine University. He is the first Republican to publicly announce his candidacy for the 6th Congressional District race.
Louisiana’s 6th District consists of East Baton Rouge, Livingston, Ascension, Lafourche, Terrebonne, Pointe Coupee, St. Charles, Assumption, Iberville, St. John the Baptist, West Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, and St. Helena parishes.
